The sixth year of the Nowa Huta meeting venue activity will start with a birthday celebration. The information point InfoKraków Zgody 7 and Cafe NOWA Księgarnia will organise numerous workshops, literary meetings and the “In the footsteps of the details and history of Nowa Huta” field game from 16 to 26 November.

The InfoKraków information point and Cafe NOWA Księgarnia have complemented each other brilliantly since the beginning of their cooperation. The attractive location and welcoming character attract both residents and cultural institutions. The space of Zgody 7 enables participating in various kinds of lectures, workshops and meetings, as well as obtaining information on current events in the city, with a particular focus on Nowa Huta. It is also a place adapted to the needs of people with disabilities or special needs, where residents can relax with coffee and sweets among shelves filled with selected literature.

The opening of the InfoKraków City Information Point at the Zgody 7 housing estate was a lavish event. Representatives of Nowa Huta institutions, crowds of residents, city activists, and the Mayor of the City of Kraków, Jacek Majchrowski, took part in it. On the occasion of the 5th anniversary, the organisers prepared numerous attractions referring to the character of the place.

Literary meetings in Nowa will be attended by Katarzyna Kobylarczyk, author of the book ‘Ciałko’ (The Body), author of literary reportage Wojciech Przylipiak, novelist Jakub Małecki and special guests: Marcin Jurzysta, Hirek Wrona and Marcin ‘Abradab’ Marten. A toy and bookmark design workshop has been prepared for children, while adults will create decorative garlands of dried flowers and soutache keyrings as part of the workshop.

‘The success of the unusual formula of Zgody 7 is mainly due to cooperation. It is the result of the joint efforts of city institutions and local businesses, but also of residents and activists who are involved in the development of Nowa Huta from the bottom up,’ says Izabela Błaszczyk, President of the Kraków5020 Company, the operator of the Official City Information Network InfoKraków. ‘At the opening in 2018, then still acting on behalf of the Kraków Festival Office, I had high hopes for the role of Zgody 7 in the life of Nowa Huta. After five years, seeing the results of our work together, I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved in its development,’ she adds.

‘When we opened Cafe NOWA Księgarnia, we could not have imagined the difficult times ahead. Thanks to our customers, our guests, and our neighbours, we have managed not only to survive the most difficult time of the pandemic but also to create an open place filled with events and conversations about literature. A place that does not exclude but offers respite and hope. Thanks to this, Aleja Róż is once again vibrant, and Zgody 7 is the best example of how public-private partnerships can work to revitalise a neighbourhood. That is why, on its 5th birthday, we want to thank the entire community of Nowa Huta. We have prepared numerous attractions and surprises: author meetings, workshops for children, competitions and a birthday cake. Visit Nowa Huta and Zgody 7 and celebrate with us,’ concludes Jacek Dargiewicz, the founder of Cafe NOWA Księgarnia.

Participation in the anniversary celebrations is free, and registration is only required for selected events. Detailed registration information for meetings and workshops can be found on the ‘Zgody 7 – meeting place’ Facebook page.
